Life's Key and
Emmaus International

Emmaus International oversees all of it's courses that are distributed into prisons throughout the United States. There are over 30 prison coordinators heading up ministries, authorized to distribute the courses. Some ministries are responsible for a single state, some are responsible for multiple states, as is the case with Life's Key. 

Emmaus and Life's Key work together in a number of ways. If Emmaus is ever made aware of a student in one of our ten states that is interested in taking courses, they notify us, and then we check our records to see if they have taken courses with us before so we know what to send them. Each ministry has the freedom to establish its own curriculum, which often times only includes a selection of the 100+ courses that Emmaus offers. Life's Key currently offers 52 Emmaus courses in our curriculum. When a student has taken all of our courses, we send a transcript to Emmaus, who then reaches out to the student and will supply as many of the remaining courses as the student wants to take.

We also order all of our books directly from Emmaus. After an order is sent, they take it to their warehouse located near the Emmaus campus in Dubuque, IA, fill as many boxes as they need to, and ship it off to us in a timely fashion. Each month, Life's Key will send an update on how many courses were sent out and how many have been returned. We can also let them know how things are going, and how they can pray for us. They keep us up to date on any new courses and adjustments to existing courses so that we can determine whether we would like to add to our curriculum, or in the case of adjustments, know if we need to make a change to our answer sheets.

We all have the same goal: to get God's word into the hands of as many current or former inmates as possible, and to guide them in their Christian walk. We are so thankful to Emmaus for their commitment to prison ministry and the working relationship we share!
